Abstract : “Empowering women is key to building future we want”  -  Amartya Sen

World vision has began to adopt a more responsive approach to address barriers to access resources,  decision making and meaningful participation that exists due to gender based social norms. Gender and Development (GAD) approach focus on the unequal access to the control over resources- land, water, finance, technology and information between men and women. Women often have access but lack control, undermining their economic potential, agricultural efficiency and empowerment, particularly in rural area, leading to lower productivity and household income. The main objective of this research paper is to discuss India women’s access and control over land, housing and finance in recent years. To achieve the objective we use the data provided by World Bank, Government of India and RBI.

Key Words:

Resources:  Resource is any physical or virtual supply, support or asset – such as natural materials, human labor, technology or money – used to fulfill needs, satisfy wants or achieve goals.

Control:    The authority to make decision regarding the use of resources, to own them and to decide on the allocation of benefits derived from them.
