Abstract: Swami Vivekananda,
who was the highest crest of the Indian Renaissance of 19 th
century, was a great nationalist thinker apart from a universally recognized
Vedantist philosopher. Over a century back, Swami Vivekananda warned that the
English model of education was not only a defective system from personal
perspective; it was also a vicious system detrimental to the growth of India as
a nation. He provided his original concept of education which is Vedantic in
its spirit and nationalist in its mission. This paper is a humble attempt to
expose swami Vivekananda concept of education.
