The Impact of Climate Change on Plant Phenology: An Indian Perspective

Abstract: Plant phenology, the
study of the timing of periodic biological events in plants, such as flowering
and leafing, serves as a sensitive indicator of climate change. As global
temperatures rise and weather patterns shift, phenological events are occurring
earlier or becoming desynchronized, affecting ecosystems, agriculture, and
biodiversity. This paper explores the mechanisms through which climate change
influences phenology, the observable effects across various regions and plant
species, and the implications for ecological relationships and human systems.
It also examines current methods of phenological monitoring and potential
adaptation strategies.
